Are Carbide Motion and Shapeoko 3XL hardware compatible with 2023 Macbook?

Hi all - Looking at upgrading my MacBook to either the Air or the Pro with the M2 chip. I use Fusion 360 > Carbide Motion (v. 3.0.366) > Shapeoko 3XL (2017, original). Should I anticipate any compatibility issues? Or any other things to consider before making the purchase?

Yes.

You just need to install Rosetta if you haven’t already.

Thanks Will - that seems easy enough. If that’s all it takes, should be smooth sailing.

Will CCreate eventually migrate to a native Mac architecture build?

That would be a question for the developers.

Eventually, I’m sure we will, but I suspect it won’t be until the effort to do so makes sense, and I don’t know what the back-end compiler toolchain looks like, or what complexities a second architecture adds.

If anyone has difficulties w/ the new architecture, let us know at support@carbide3d.com
