Judging by support tickets, the Nomad has worked out well in shop class environments:
- the enclosure allows it to be used early, w/ only hearing protection being strictly needed and minimal concern about eye protection not being heeded (please require both for any power tool and advise a ten count on all fingers before engaging power)
- softer materials work better in the context of class time frames — cutting boards such as: $1.25 (no longer a dollar) Bamboo cutting boards are back in stock at the Dollar Tree or https://www.dollartree.com/cooking-concepts-white-cutting-boards-with-grips-85x11-in/356043 work well as material, or source S4S lumber which can be cut up — we do have one project which uses aluminum cans: Recycling with CNC: Soda POP Robots
- Carbide Create works well as an introduction to CAD/Bézier curve drawing program concepts, as well as geometry/trigonometry as used in the shop due to its limitations:
- similarly, it works well for CAM — it not having limitations on saving files allows students to install and use it at home and simulate designs:
