My assembly didn’t start off very well, I only received 3 of the 4 base frame pieces. I’ve already emailed sales and support. Should I be prepared to find more missing pieces after I receive the missing pieces?
You can technically continue on… just skip the 3rd one for now. I assembled mine the last few days and got a broken part, so I am waiting on support to send me another one.
If you have a 2x2 or 4x2, there are only 3 baseframe members:
https://my.carbide3d.com/gettingstarted/shapeoko5pro/
- The 4x2 and 2x2 sizes only use 3 Baseframe Members (Pg. 5).
Please excuse my ignorance.
I had previously downloaded the manuals and opened them from the Downloads folder, causing me to miss the note of how many based frame members per machine. I’ll get back to assembly after lunch.
Appreciate your response.
Assembling a Shapeoko machine proves interesting. The machine does not conform to many notions we’ve experienced over the years. Simple, straightforward construction with decent instruction, yes. But unless you’ve stood alongside one it can be quite a visual puzzle. The value of this message board comes through as you’ve already seen.
Keep at it, don’t tighten before squaring, and trust the process.
When I was assembling my 4x2, I messed up by guessing at which of the 4 locations on the y-assembly should be used for the 3 baseframe members. Avoid the mistake I made - it’s supposed to be the 3 locations closest to the front of the machine.
Thanks for the tip. I saw the 4 sets of holes, the 4 base frame pieces on the instructions and figured I had a missing piece. It was a long day yesterday.
