This is a bit of a rant, sorry.
After waiting a whole week after it was promised, I’ve finally received the spindle and I’ve now put together the Shapeoko 5 Pro 4’x4’ with the VFD spindle, but I’ve found a connection that has nowhere to go (rear right Y-axis, I have an extra 3 wires connected to a 4-hole connector that seems to have no place to plugin). Also, how does the BitSensor that plugs into the right, Y-axis rail connect to anything? I suspect these problems are related… I wish I had a manual…
The videos I found online to do so, keep telling me to refer to the instruction manual – I didn’t get one. Was this just accidentally left out of my order or is this just not sent to people who spend $5K on a machine?
So, I found this one online: https://my.carbide3d.com/pdf/shapeoko5_pro_assembly_guide_01-03-23_web.pdf
This is obviously designed for printing on nice glossy paper, again, I’ll ask, why wasn’t I sent one? Am I really left to print this on my home 2D printer? The design wants to make VERY liberal use of vast black fields which is going to murder my ink levels. OMG.
Related rant, why is YouTube monetization turned on for assembly videos?!? This feels rather insulting to be trying to assemble this expensive machine (with no manual, mind you!) only to have ads every 30 seconds interrupting me. This really leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
I really want to love this machine, but it’s playing hard-to-get right now…
