AutoCad DXF importing

I have a simple outline in Autocad that I’m trying to get into CC. I only get a few arc’s and lines. I’ve exported dxf in multiple older versions. I’m losing almost all my geometry. What’s the secret? CC is so limited on laying out array’s etc. I can layout my design in minutes in Acad, CC just isn’t picking up the dxf. I’m pulling my hair out.

Thank you.

Can you share the dxf?

Please send the DXF in to support@carbide3d.com and we’ll do our best to look into this.

I will note that usually opening the DXF in LibreCAD, exporting as MakerCAM SVG usually works.

When I export a dxf out of Autocad for SheetCam, V-Carve Pro, or other cam software, I’ll’ default to a version 12 dxf. However, I don’t use Carbide Create.

Have you tried to open the dxf in another application to see what it looks like. In its native application it may look good but a free 3rd party application may have the same trouble as CC.

Sorry for the delay, I’ve been on travel this week. Here is a screen grab of what it looks like in ACAD

Here is the exported dxf

bin clamp segment.dxf (159.6 KB)

And this is the screen capture after it gets imported to CC build 530

CC Capt

I found I could save the file out of ACAD in an svg form. I switched to that and it worked my better but, I wondering what’s up with the dxf mechanism.

Thanks everyone for your input. This is a great resource.

You want the central spline as an open path?

Acad command “PEDIT” “JOIN” exit, save

I added the segments in the middle as an attempt to import. The circles never came in. I figured I could always add the circles manually at the segment endpoints. That was my reasoning/test.

Thanks for the ACAD commands. I’ll give those a try

Select all all entities. command PEDIT, will say The entity selected is not a polyline. Turn it into one? [Yes/No] say yes (Y)
then says Edit polylines: [Close/Open/Join/Width/Fit/Spline/Decurve/Linetype-mode/Reverse/Undo/eXit] : say Join (J) then exit (X)
save
