I want to have the router and dust collector shut off when the project is done cutting and the spindle returns to home. I understand there is a circuit using Arduino and a shield to cause this to happen. Of course there would be a connection to the the Shapeoko control board; where would thet be?
The bitrunner will start and stop the router automatically. Not sure if you are running a trim router or a spindle but I use an Ivac switch. Plug the Shapeoko power supply into the AUX plug location, the vacuum in the Vac plug and the router in the TOOL Plug locations. The hole thing is mounted to the side of the table my Shapeoko sits on. When the router is turned on the vac starts. When the router is turned off the vac runs for an additional 8-10 seconds and shuts off. There is a switch on the unit that allows you to by pass the router and turn the vac on directly without the router having to be on. I was not sure it would work with the bitrunner added but it works perfectly. When the tool change happens the router rises and shuts off, the vac runs for a few second longer and shuts off. The cycle starts again when the bitrunner turns the router back on. Here is an amazon (US) link but you can look at the woodworking supply places like Rockler and Woodcraft as well as online suppliers and you may find it on sell. Especially with Fathers Day around the corner. The Fien and Festool vacs also have the auto turn on with tool power built in.
