Back at it, the power issues are fixed!

Great to have the machine back up and running after the new garage is properly powered. Anyone running a VFD, GFCI is not your friend!

While I was fixing those issues, I decided to take some time and check off a honey due with a Cali king floating bed frame with a custom head board.

I used all my walnut scraps and the frame was made from my old work bench from the old house. Just have the skirts left with the walnut panels.

Cheers!

VFD amd GFCI do not seem compatible. I have a Jet 1221 VS speed lathe that will trip a GFCI as well as a larger Jet 1642 VFD lathe that will trip the GFCI outlets. So I have a single outlet in my shop that is just a regular duplex outlet with a regular breaker. All my othe outlets in my shop are GFCI protected.

The reason the GFCI gets trips is when a VFD changes frequency (voltage) it sends power back on the outlet. That is the exact thing that a GFCI looks for to prevent you from being shocked when there is a voltage differential between the ground and neutral.

So it is quite natural for a VFD t trip a GFCI. Some people do not have any problem with GFCI but I think most people will have the GFCI tripped by a VFD when it changes frequency to change the speed of the spindle.

Yeah it was an oversight by me when looking over the new house. All my plugs in the garage was GFCI protected so I replaced them.

Side note, getting ready to add more 120s and 240 drops in the garage. Plasma Table inbound :raised_hands:

Here is the completed Shadowbox. Turned out pretty well.

I also finished up the bed build, that turned out pretty comfy…

Cheers! :beers:
