Best software versions for shapeoko 3 XXL

So been out of the game for a while. and I have a bitsetter. I noticed on the older
Carbide Motion versions they have a version for the Shapeoko 3 (version 368) and a last version that supports the Bitsetter (version 622). Question is version 368 Motion the last version I can use for the Shapeoko 3, I kept upgrading then at a certain point the bitsetter was not supported. The Shapeoko 3 kept working. Second Question can I use the latest version of Create with the older Motion versions. Hoping someone has experienced this and can give some advice.

Which version of Carbide Motion is compatible with a machine is dependent on which version of Grbl is running on the machine’s controller.

v0.9 works with 368

v1.1 is required for v4 and later

Updating requires homing switches. If your machine doesn’t have them see:

This should be the correct GRBL build: https://carbide3d.com/files/grbl11/grbl11e20161219.hex For what it’s worth, we haven’t shipped a machine with GRBL 0.9 since around 2016. It’s pretty rare for us to upgrade machines that old these days, and honestly, our team doesn’t have much experience with the process anymore. Because of that, we’ve had to stop providing support for it.

Hi Folks, For those interested, this is how I upgraded from GRBL version 1.1f to 1.1h. I am not sure there is any real need to do this, but the machine can always be flashed back to normal with the Carbide software or with the process I used. You could use this process to add your own functionality to GRBL if you wish, but that’s another thing entirely.
