I am using a 1/4 up cut 201 bit. I have it set for a cut depth of 0.2". I am cutting a pocket 1.25" deep. The simulation will do 0.2" per layer as it is suppose to but in Carbide Create it will attemped to cut the entire 1.25" deep at one time. I have check the zero and it is perfict. I always used load new bit. Everything is good with this. It just wants to cut all at one time. This is on a Shapeoko 4XXL Pro.
Where is the origin set in the file?
How are you setting the zero relative to the stock?
Have you done any of the tutorials?
It may help to review:
If you continue to have difficulties, please post the .c2d file, generated G-Code, step-by-step notes on how you are securing your stock and setting zero relative to the stock and managing all tool changes and a photo showing an attempt at cutting still in place on the machine and we’ll do our best to assist.
My home is bottom left. I am using the bit zero. I can check my zero by going to rapit move and doing the z. It comes to the point at zero as it should. I am using Carveco maker and running in Carbide Motion. This has happened before and I somehow was able to get it to work, but not this time.
I am clearing out a pocket 1.25" deep in a stock of 1.66". It is fixed on top of a .5"MDF wase board. I have the stepdown set to 0.2" for a 1/4" bit and I have the box check for used multible passes within Carveco Maker. When the bit comes over, it will immediantly plung to over an 1" deep and cannot move.
Make a very simple file in Carbide Create — do a test cut.
Make an equivalent file in CarveCo — compare its results to the CC test cut.
