Using my Pro XXL to flatten some live edge pieces. I don’t like using the bitsetter for this as the bit doesn’t engage the bitsetter. I have tried using a business card or piece of metal to effectively make the bitsetter button bigger but just don’t feel that is repeatable. Anyway, the problem is when I disable the bitsetter in settings, rezero my X,Y,Z to the piece I want to flatten. As soon I press start the z goes all the way to the top and hits the stop, grinding and lossing steps. Press stop, re-initialize, reset the z zero as it is way off now, and it works no problem. It does this every time after I disable bitsetter. Any idea as to why this is happening? I am I missing a step?
Disabling the BitSetter also undoes the tool length offset — this can result in the zero being positioned so that what you describe happens.
After disabling the BitSetter re-set zero or re-initialize the machine — the most expedient way to do this is to quit Carbide Motion and re-launch it.
Perhaps CM could be changed so that disabling the BitSetter forces an initialization? I’ve seen this behavior, and this problem has come up before…
