My bitsetter is flagging when the button is unpressed. I removed the prox switch and it then seems to work OK when I place a target near it and does not flag when nothing is near. When I reinstall it in its housing it seems to be sensing the button in error. Can I somehow adjust the button in the housing?
Please send a photo of the internals of the unit in to support@carbide3d.com (noting that you had done the disassembly of your own volition) and we’ll work out how to handle this.
I’ll make up a short video in a couple days and get it to you. It’s weird, like the prox switch became more sensitive. This happened before, but disappeared after a few strategic taps with a screwdriver handle.
Sorry for the delay in writing back about this, but I “fixed” it. For some unknown reason, the BitSetter prox has grown more sensitive and was flagging all the time so I was unable to use it. I took it apart and after eyeballing the switch I saw that I had a 32nd of an inch or so on the "bottom of the switch figed I’d sand it off and put it back together to see if that would work. It did work so now I have a functional BitSetter again. While I am not sure why the prox got more sensitive, I must say, that I use little magnetic buttons on the machine Y-axis endplate to hold allen wrenches, etc. and I’m wondering if the prox may have gotten somewhat magnetized by them changing its properties. Anyway, all is working again.
