Bitsetter probe cycle failure

I know that this is a previously discussed problem.
I have read the solutions and I still do not understand how to fix the problem. Shapeoko XXL with z-drive.
During initialization cycle, when the z axis starts to drop-down to the bit setter, it descends about 1 inch and stops. The z-drive does move freely when the unit is off, and all my switches light up when I wave a wrench in front of them.
Please advise.

Do you have a BitZero? Where is it? Where is the groundlead? Are they touching?

Did you configure for the correct Z-axis?

My bitsetter is sitting on the edge of the table piled on top of the ground lead with the red light on.

If you mean BitZero, that’s the problem — it should be set aside somewhere safe and the ground lead should not be touching it, see:

The BitZero and BitSetter are electrically connected. If your BitZero magnet/alligator clip is touching ground or the BitZero then it will effect your BitSetter functionality.

Make yourself a holder to put your BitZero in and wrap the magnet/alligator clip around and let the magnet/alligator clip dangle in the air. That will solve the storage problem and make your BitSetter work as intended.

Problem solved, thanks all for the advice.
