Has anyone ever damaged the button on the bitsetter and sent a new one? It looks like you simple screw the new one in.
Yes I have. The McFly took the cap right off, slick as a whistle.
Put a magnet on top with a bit of super glue to hold it in place. When I need extra height on the magnet, I pile a few more. The distance is relative. First probe sets parameter, second and subsequent probes are the length confirmation.
I have an original BitSetter on my SO3XXL. Later I had an SO3 XL with a newer BitSetter that had a magnet on top of the plunger you could replace. I bought the XL used and was cleaning it and blowing the old dust out and lost the magnet. I just bought some magnets off Amazon and replaced it.
So depending on how old you BitSetter is it might have the removable magnet on top you can scoop out and replace. If it is an older one like mine not sure if they sell a replacement plunger. You would have to contact support@c3d.com to find out.
I just bought a new 30 degree bit from IDC and I feel like the point has been slightly blunted by the plunges on the bitsetter. Has anyone replaced the top with something a little more forgiving that doesn’t really impact the accuracy?
