Bitzero moving on probing?

Hi all,

Just got my Shapeoko 5 Pro and apart from a few broken bits, all looks great.

I’ve also bought a bit zero and I was just doing some test cuts with it today to see how it works.

I noticed that when it moves around the inner circle, it nudges the bitzero down the y axis a tiny bit as it knocks it - talking max 1mm.

Just wondering if this is expected behaviour or whether this would reduce accuracy and should be worked around? (Eg I could hold the bitzero when probing to make sure it doesn’t move!)

It should be possible to drape the cord so that the BitZero will be held in place.

For critical work I’ll tape it in place w/ some painter’s tape.

Do not reach into the machine’s envelope when it is powered up/moving.

I use the tooling pin and have the spindle disabled when I use the BitZero. But I physically hold it in place by hand since it’s movements are intentionally slow and predictable.

Ok cool, so sounds like a bit of a design flaw then (I was wondering whether it was software accommodated) - cool, will work around this!

It is a safety measure. Skin is softer than carbide
