Newbie question concerning the bitzero. If i should loose power during a job and keep it secured to wasteboard, will bitzero provide the ability to run the job again? I realize it would cut air until it caught up, but could i theoretically continue with the job?
This should not be necessary — zero is preserved when the machine is powered off/back on (within the precision limits of the homing switches), and note that restarting a job was added in Build 652 I think it was.
I have accidentally closed CM and accidentally hit stop in CM. So things sometimes happen. The good news is I have initialized my machine and started over and the zeros were still set.
That said the zeros are relative to the homing position. So when your machine homes the zeros are an offset from that position. So if the homing cycle is a few thousands off so will your zeros be off those same thousands. So far I have never had a problem maintaining zeros after power cycles or accident dumb stuff.
When you use your BitZero what is being set is the offset from the home position until the electrical circuit is completed when the bit hits the BitZero and the ground magnet on your router/spindle. Since the machine Z home position is known from initialization when the Z moves down the steps are being kept track of and as your bit touches the BitZero the exact number of steps are recorded by the controller. The same is true of the X and Y zeros.
So unless you are doing aerospace type precision you should have nothing to worry about.
Thank you for the info. It was very helpful!
