BLTouch Probe Integration

I have about a dozen of these set up for engraving text and such onto aluminum plates, and I use a 3D printer bltouch probe wired to the BitZero port to get the toolpath as perfectly aligned to the surface of the lid as possible.

It’s been working great until needing to change and measure the tool, since I have to unplug the bltouch probe and invert the probe pin with $6=1 and $6=0 when switching between bitsetter & bltouch probe. The setting also doesn’t seem to take unless I power cycle the machine. I ended up resorting to just rerunning a quick cut over and over slightly deeper each time until it hits at the right depth and then saving that as an offset because even that is faster than trying to swap back and forth between the configurations.

I guess the solution would be to flip the probe output with an NPN transistor and such so it matches how the bitsetter works? Is there some other way to go about doing this better? I don’t know much about software, firmware, or electrical stuff.

I should also mention since taking this picture I’ve routed the wiring through the cable carrier and it’s not just dangling around in the workspace, don’t worry!

Man, consider me jealous. That’s a beautiful setup :slightly_smiling_face:

I’d recommend looking into a signal merger with configurable inputs like(you can flip each input individually as well as the output); SIG.MER/4 – signal merger – 4 inputs to 1 output – topcom.cz

I’ve used a few of their products and can speak to the quality. Good stuff for the price and convenient as heck :slightly_smiling_face:
(The magnetic connectors they have are convenient as well, though I’m not sure you want to splice your oem cables)

Let me know if you have any questions. No affiliation or anything, I just think it could work for you and I like the topcom fella :slightly_smiling_face:

Wow, I think their 2 channel version of this is exactly what I need and I do appreciate your suggestion! Unfortunately, I can’t seem to place an order through their site and there were a couple on ebay but not 12 of them available at once. I’ll try to look around for other similar limit switch or probe signal mergers or converters if that’s a common type of device that exists.

Nevermind, I am silly and figured out why I couldn’t add to cart. They have a separate ‘product’ and ‘shop’ page and the ‘product’ page still shows an ‘add to cart’ that is unclickable which led to my confusion.

Using a converter did end up working perfectly!
