In the build instructions online it says the right rail is plain and the left rail has drilled holes. Well both my rails have holes drilled. 1 has 2 holes centered roughly the electronics box size I believe. And the other rail has like 6 holes drilled in various places, but I can’t figure out what they would be used for? So which rail is the left and which is the right?
Those holes on the right rail on the pic look they would be used for attaching brackets…which does not make sense to me on a right Y rail. If you bought the XL to XXL upgrade kit they might have sent you one long X rail instead of the right Y rail ? But then again I’m not up to date on the latest parts that ship in kits: you should drop a mail to support@carbide3d.com to get a better answer (or maybe @WillAdams could confirm whether this is normal)
I received 3 rails, although the one for the spindle was easy to identify as it has the SHAPEOKO sticker on it.
Heard from support already!:
"We have switched over our rail configurations to match the Z-Plus machines.
The Y-axis rail with two centered in-line screw holes is Y2 for the right — the holes are for the optional BitRunner accessory.
The Y-axis rail with 6 holes is Y1 for the left — the diagonal larger holes go to the rear for the electronics enclosure, the smaller holes are along the upp edge and are for mounting the drag chain brackets included with an induction homing kit."
The new holes for the bitrunner are great, as I did order that too.
