Butcher block for wasteboard

Has anyone tried milling down a butcher block to replace the MDF shipped with Shapeoko 3
seems like it would be rigid and maintain it flatness.

I’d imagine you would avoid using natural wood for the bed due to it being dimensionally unstable (https://www.wood-database.com/wood-articles/dimensional-shrinkage/), especially if used to attach to S3’s frame plates as it could alter squareness, etc.

Most butcher block I’ve seen is anything but stable. It tends to offset it’s own warpage and stay even on average (many blocks), but not on small scale (1-2).
