C3D Touch Probe Z-Height after probing

I think I’m right that the C3D Probe height is hard coded in CM.
I have DIY’d a probe and milled it’s height to 25mm ± 0.2.

I was wondering after you clear all offsets and with the C3D probe placed
on the waste board what is the Z position on the “Set Current Position” screen in CM?

Thanks in advance!

Anybody have a C3D probe that could give me this measurement from CM?

@kdan, wouldn’t that measurement depend on how people have setup their machine, for example whether the router sits high or low in its mount and which endmill they are using ?
(I would have done this for you, but I don’t have a C3D probe)
Or maybe explain what you are trying to conclude/achieve ?

@Julien, I might be going about this all wrong. After milling my DIY probe I just wanted to make sure CM would set Z height as though you were using a C3D probe.
But after you mention it, it would have factors that would not be the same from machine to machine. I was thinking that CM had the C3D probe height as a constant and I was trying to duplicate that.

I may have to experiment with this one.

Thanks Julien for pointing this out!

As long as your DIY probe dimensions are identical to C3D’s, it will be allright. And even if they aren’t, you could then consider another G-code sender that lets you customize the probe dimensions (hint: CNCjs with @neilferreri’s wonderful probing macros)
