I’m looking for an inexpensive WiFi camera I can put above my CNC machine to view from a remote computer while its operating. Everything I found uses an App on a phone. Has anyone done this and have any suggestions
I just installed a Eufy system. They have several wired/wireless units that are WiFi. Accessed from my iPad/iPhone. No subscription needed such as Arlow or Ring.
I have an Arlo security system. I pointed one of the cameras at my machine. It will stream right to my laptop.
I use Wyze. It has Pan Tilt Zoom and can be seen on any web browser (that knows the log in)
What platform are you using to view a Wyze camera ?
What program are you using that offers a log-in dialog ?
I use a Wyze program/app on an inexpensive ONN tablet.
Thanks, Bill
You could get an older spec Raspberry Pi with the camera board?
I have an earlier model of this.
When not pointed at that CNC I point it at my garage entry door to let me know if anyone comes in. It’s cheap and the app works fine. No subscription required unless you want the fancier features.
I use Arlo for the rest of the property and my rental unit but didn’t need that for the machine.
I’m using a Wyze cam on my CNC as well. But I only view it from my phone. I was unaware you could view it on a PC…I’ll look into it.
From my perspective, the Wyze cams are perfect - I have 3 of them in my shop (a pan-and-tilt from each end of the shop, and a fixed angle looking directly at the CNC base). They’re dirt cheap and do not require any subscriptions or recurring fees. They have 2-way sound, recording (with a micro-SD card), and movement notifications.
The only negative is that they require constant power. If the power goes off, so does the cam. To my knowledge, they don’t have a battery unit (like Ring)…but I could be wrong.
If you can view it from a PC, they will be perfect for you.
Also - you CAN get a Ring cam and not have a subscription. You will not have recording capabilities, but if all you want to do is monitor, they work fine.

I think you have to pay the subscription to be able to view from the PC.
