Can CC Set Vee Bit Depth Now

Hey guys, forgive me, but in my defense, there “is” quite a bit of articles on here making me feel like CC “cant” set the depth for V Bits, but I thought I’d Ask to confirm it for myself once and for all, instead of trying to test it out and mess something up. I downloaded the latest, but will be honest, hadn’t been out in the shop in freakn “Months” due to other stuff. So, last I think I was told and last I remember reading was, you had to do all this special stuff to set depths for vee bits either that or use another software like VCarve that allows it, I think. Do now, I see actual settings in CC that actually Say VCarve and it has a “Max Depth” so…that makes me feel like I “can” set a depth to what I want for the Vee Bits now.

Can someone let me know which it is? And I don’t know, this is just a suggestion, but maybe as you update and upgrade the software, if it’s possible, maybe discard or remove the old articles that speak of certain features from the “older” versions. If one comes here and searches Vee Bit Depth, you get articles that make you feel it cant be done, from way back in 2019 or earlier (just a suggestion) and it can be confusing, honestly.

Hey thanks

You can depth limit V carvings w/ V endmills and will get an accurate preview in current versions.

A normal V carving goes through the center and will be distorted if not allowed to cut as deeply as it needs to be.

Advanced V carving works better, since it cuts along the perimeter.

You can also now use V endmills w/ contour toolpaths and these cuts can be made at arbitrary depths.

Thank you Kind Sir!
I appreciate that.

Kind of a nice “undocumented feature”. If I have to roughly parallel curves that vary in width, but I want a uniform width line, I can set the max depth to what it would be at the narrowest point & get a cut down the center at the same depth.
