Does anyone have any free files to test a Shapeoko 5 pro spindle?
Happy to try anything that fits on a 18 x 7 inch softwood board with 0.8 inch thickness… looking for a relatively simple design - bits I have at #301, #201, #102 101, 251, 202, 302 9 (Nomad tools).
I am new to CNC , when I try to find free ones online I end up getting weird filenames that are not compatible with Carbide motion or Carbide Create. thanks

Cutrocket has a bunch of projects that people have uploaded and files should work for motion. Probably worth opening them in create to make sure everything is set correctly.
I am surprised nobody sent you anything. My suggestion is to draw something up in Carbide create and play with it. That being said here is a start for you. It uses the wood and two of the bits you mentioned. I kept it small in the lower left corner so you can play with things. It just a vcarve of Bromosapien (with the letters raised). Open the file and modify/change things. The power of the cnc is to make things you want, not what you find. bromosapien.c2d (200 KB)
it is set with a zero at the top of the stock (I would suggest zero on bottom when you get the hang of things since that puts less cuts into the wasteboard)
The group here is very good at helping out. (Will is especially responsive…he must be a space alien since he never seems to sleep )
