Can’t remove bit

Hi All- I am having an issue gettin the bit out of my machine. It seems like the collar or the 13mm wrench is worn and the wrench slips out past the groove channel. Any tips on how to remove stubborn bits?

Is this a standard Carbide Compact Router, the ER-11 version, or a VFD spindle (which collet)?

Photos of the unit and the wrench?

Hey it is the vfd spindle

Is the nut cross-threaded?

If you have a pair of calipers, can you see if a 12mm wrench would fit on it? That’s probably the ideal Plan B. Plan C, just to get the collet off, would be to slip a shim in between the wrench flats and the spindle shaft to soak up some of the slop.

Looks like the spindle shaft and the wrench are fairly worn. I would get another wrench and clean up the spindle shaft with a file. You may have to use vise grips to get the collet nut off. The shaft threads look gauled above the collet nut. You may need to get a die and clean it up and replace the collet nut. A good bit of wear on that spindle assembly.

Or, check and see if 1/2" (12.7mm) is tight enough to work?
