My ProXL sometimes has an issue if I stop a file then it errors out when I re-connect. It goes up against the stops on either the x or the z and just grinds. Usually, I can turn it off and manually move the gantry off said stop and it will work again. Lately, it’s getting worse and usually the z stop.
Right now I cannot even initialize because it gets stuck every time. I’ve cleaned the stops but don’t know what else to do. I’m completely stuck.
Sometimes the proximity switch needs adjusting. So manually move the machine to the homing position and power on. Connect but do not initialize. Check that your homing switches are activated and if they are not try adjusting them closer to the trigger. The Z-Plus can be moved up by twisting the leadscrew. It is hard but doable. The same is true for the X and Y if belt driven just power off and push it to home. If you have ballscrews then turn them to get it to home. Alternatively try to initialize and then power off, power on, connect but do not initialize and check homing switches to see if they are actuated and adjust as necessary.
Late last night, i did some internet and youtube searches and found that as well. I’m up this morning before work to head down and see if i can do just this. I suspect this will be the issue and hopefully not bad proximity switches. We shall see.
Just in case, i did open a ticket with C3D and I proactively have a video session scheduled with Nick at the soonest availability which is Friday. Hopefully, I’ll be back up before then.
I got up this morning and did some troubleshooting after watching a few videos last night. I opened up the control box (not sure technical term) and cleaned it out and then I used metal to verify that each of the limit switches were actually functioning…lights engaged on both the switches and the board. I made a couple of adjustments to the z axis switch, lowering it to the lowest position the screw would allow and tried. Same issues. I also added a plastic spacer behind the z switch to see if it helped but it had no bearing on the issue.
At this point, it seems like the motor on the z could be the issue. Whether there’s a programming that can be done or not, I have no idea. Maybe? When I initialize and it goes to the top, the proximity switch indicators light up each time. The machine does it’s pause, backs down and then when it tries to go to the limit it goes right past it to the point that the lights go off and then it just grinds against the top and I have to turn the machine off. It does this every time now. I have video of it if that helps but not sure i can post it here.
