I posted yesterday and was given the correct solution but I still can’t get it to work. I believe Carbide motion had my machine set as the Shapeoko 4 HDZ, while it’s actually the Z-plus. This was causing my z-axis to move much further than it should have. I opened motion and connected to the machine and clicked ‘set up new machine’. I went through the wizard as the z Plus and it does the correct initializing. But as soon as I click finish on the wizard, carbide motion disconnects from the machine and when I click to initialize, it goes through the initializing of the hdz and still has the old settings. I’ve done this three times now with the same result each time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Go to Settings | Options and enable the MDI, then use it to send the settings for a Z-Plus:
$30 = 1000
$102 = 200
$112 = 1000
$122 = 270
$132 = 95
then confirm that the settings were sent correctly by opening up the Log window, pausing updates and sending $$ to send the Settings to the log
I ended up deleting the data file for carbide motion and then did the wizard again. It looks like this worked. It does do a really fast forward y axis movement at the end of initializing, which it wasn’t previously doing. Not sure if it’s supposed to be doing that.
The forward motion on the Y-axis happens in more recent versions of Carbide Motion to ensure similar behaviour for machines with and without BitSetters.
I would have been lost without you the last 2 days. Thank you so much for your help.
