Carbide 3d router brushes

I’ve had my Shapeoko almost one year to the date. And I’m ordering more router brushes. I’ve used both sets they sent with it. I’m a weekend warrior, so it’s not getting a ton of use. I’m a contractor by day with daily use of power tools, and none of my daily tools go through brushes this frequently. Is there an issue with my router? There is always a little play in the router, even after new brushes, is this normal? Thanks for any input!

Put a sock on it…

4 years, 6 months, and 7 days is how long my OEM Makita brushes lasted using my Sock Prefilter idea.

PS I estimate my router had over 6200 hours on the first set of brushes.

There shouldn’t be any play — that would be an issue with the bearings — but play in the bearings can cause increased wear in the brushes.

Please write in to support@carbide3d.com and let us know about the play in the bearings and we’ll do our best to get that sorted out.

Will, I just wrote into support. Thank you, I appreciate your input.

I bought a used xl with c3d router. It had a bad lower bearing and you get the collet to wiggle all around. There are repair kits but I bought a new Makita. C3D offered to help but the original purchase was out of warranty and I bought it used.

Wife was upset I was stealing her dust rags. I compromised and wash my socks once in a while. Ha ha ha
