Carbide create and sharing files

I’m very new to the cnc world. I just purchased a shapeoko 5 pro and I’m trying to find out if I have a desktop in my house to use carbide create, can I share that file to a tablet that stays in the shop to run motion? Thanks

Yes, you can share the file. Lots of people use an online storage like outlook or Google. Others transfer the file using a USB drive. Emailing it and putting it on the tablet is a good way as well.

Thank you. I’ve been seeing a lot of people say the fusion5 tablet is the way to go, would you agree or is there a better option?

I can’t really say for sure. I use an old laptop that I use for both my design and running CM. But that being said the Fusion 5 is a very popular choice. The main thing is to make sure the video drivers are up to date.

You can even use a raspberryPI for CM if that is more your taste.

I use this little tablet from amazon to run carbide motion. So far it’s flawless to run my cuts and do small edits to my files in carbide create. I still design using my desktop but transfer the file to this tablet. Works well. I talk about it a little in the youtube review I did on my Shapeoko 5 pro.

I switched from a laptop to a Fusion5 running Win10. It’s VERY good. I do recommend it. It has a USB A port — I hooked a powered hub to it, so that I can plug a thumb drive in (with c2d files) and hook up a few peripherals (below):

Since I’m not a big fan of typing on a tablet, I also picked up a rollable keyboard (This one) for $20 because it’s water tight … and therefore dustproof (no sawdust in the keys). I use it’s numeric keypad as my jogging controls — solves a lot of problems for next to nothing. I also have a USB wired mouse that I attached…because I find that using a mouse is easier on Windows explorer, etc. I suppose you could find a waterproof mouse (or touchpad) that you can connect to the USB hub.

I’m quite happy with the setup…and it’s dirt cheap.
