After designing, creating tool paths, and saving the file for a project in Carbide Create on my MAC, I am unable to reopen the file. It appears as though the file is opening but there is no visible design or tool path. If I select NEW from the file menu CC asks if I want to save the current file. I am not sure what’s going on here. This is not the first time this has happened. Any ideas?
Which version of Carbide Create?
Try the new beta?
Where are you saving the file? (we recommend to a local drive)
Are you able to restore an older backup copy of the file saved at a time when it was loading?
Upload a problematic file here?
For my part, when working on complex projects, my preference is to regularly use File | Save as, appending a description of the current state of the file, then File | Save as again, saving over the original file — I’ll then periodically move the redundant files into a “backups” folder.
Build 815. I downloaded the current beta and had a similar problem except now get an error message “…can not open file.” with same result.
I have been storing files in the cloud and on a memory stick for transfer to Carbide Motion on a Fusion PC. When I OPENed the file from the cloud on the MAC it opened just fine. Seems as though the issue is when I load on a memory stick.
FYI, actual error message is:
ERROR:
The selected file could not be loaded:
/Volumes/CNC XFER/…
Please copy files to a local hard drive before opening.
Maybe a security feature will not let files execute/open from removable devices. Scary things come on removable devices.
Maybe, but I have had this issue off and on since first using CC. I am using a Fusion 5 PC for motion control and A Mac Air with Carbide Create. I can’t seem to put my finger on the issue. I fiddle with different removeables, load and reload files. I usually get the file transferred to my Fusion 5 from my Mac but never sure why. I was hoping someone had a similar issue.
I get the same message when I download files from cut rocket
Cutrocket files not opening are caused by their being in v6 format. As noted in the announcement:
https://carbide3d.com/blog/create-v8/
Create V6 files do not load into V8
Daniel, make sure there is no special caracter on the path or filename. In the pasr i was having issue with french accent in the name
Thanks, I have had that issue too.
I did a work around and am now using a Drop Folder to transfer files from my Macbook to the PC
