Anyone know how to fix this? When using motion, it won’t load an internet explorer file.
I need to convert the NC file to a C2D file.
You did not say what OS you are running so I will assume Windows 10.
Go to your Start menu and open “Settings”
After your Settings Window opens select “Apps”
After your Apps opens select “Default Apps”
Go down the page to “Choose default apps by file type”
Find the extensions:
.c2d and associate it with CarbideCreate
.nc and associate it with CarbideCreate
After you get the file extensions associated with your proper application simply go to the files you want and rename them if necessary. Just remember if you rename a file and it is not truly a .c2d or .nc file CarbideCreate will still not open it. CarbideCreate will only open its native file formats, so for example if I rename file 123.pdf to 123.c2d the pdf file will not open in Carbide Create because CarbideCreate does not understand the file structure or contents of a pdf. You may not have to rename the files once you get them correctly associated with the application CarbideCreate.
Your last post of “I need to convert the NC file to a C2D file” should be looked at very carefully. Having your default application miss associated may fix your problem. You can open an .nc file with note pad to examine it. The .nc file is a simple plain ASCI file and can be read by any word processor or text reading application. However do not save the .nc file with the note pad or word processing applications because they may change the file structure or characters in the .nc file. Open it and read it but do not save it, exit without saving. Truthfully I do not know what a .c2d file looks like in a word processor or note pad applications. If you are in a Liniux or Unix environment you can run the “strings” command on the files in question and any plain words will show up, example “% strings filename | more”
Thank you!!! I will work on that now. You guys/gals are awesome!
FYI,
If you double click on a .c2d file the application CarbideCreate will open but it opens to a blank canvas. For example if I double click on a file called “letter.doc” the Word applications opens and the file letter.doc is also opened. If I double click on project.c2d the CarbideCreate application opens but the file project.c2d does not open. The issue is inside CarbideCreate and the owner, Carbide 3d, will have to fix that issue. So even if you double click a .c2d file and CarbideCreate opens you will still need to go the “Open” menu and open the file you double clicked on.
Hopefully one more thing. If the association of the extension does not work you may need to uninstall carbide create and reinstall. Some where in the bowels of Windows is a database, probably and XML file that is used to associate file types with available applications. For instance a .jpg file could have several applications associations like drawing programs, Internet Explorer, word processors. The association database is generated and/or updated when an applications is installed. So it would not hurt to uninstall carbide create and reinstall if your association fails. I would caution that the Carbide Motion 4.x requires the firmware of 1.1, so what ever version you uninstall reinstall with the same version and check out your firmware after wards to see if there is an upgrade path and what is required. If your machine is fairly new that may not be a concern but check it anyway.
Right click --> Open with --> Make sure the “always open with this” is selected --> Choose Carbide Create
The new beta 400 series fixes this file association problem:

403 has been working well for me: https://carbide3d.com/carbidecreate/unstable/
Did you get the file association resolved?
