Can any of these programs be used with a machine other than Carbide Create? I am using a Makermade CNC500 desktop… It was recommended that I try V6.42. When I try to connect there are only Carbide Create machines listed.
The Machine Selection is only a reminder of what sort of machine a job was set up for, and for folks who don’t have Carbide 3D machines, a bit of advertising.
You will want a Pro license to run Carbide Create and export G-code suite to use with other machines, see:
Carbide Create (CAD/CAM) can be used with the post processor of “Basic G-Code and/or GBRL” With either of those two post processors you can use the free Carbide Create or buy the pro. The issue is you are limited to v6 of Carbide Create because in V7 of CC they started encrypting the gcode into the .c2d file. You would have to buy the Pro version to extract the separate gcode files needed for a 3rd party machine. Another issue with 3rd party machines is advanced vcarve will not work because they do not have the BitSetter functionality. Many have the BitZero function but an advanced vcarve is one toolpath with 2 tools. C3D has a website to extract an advanced vcarve tool path into two tool paths so you can do advanced vcarve if you turn the single toolpath into two tool paths.
Carbide Motion (communication/control) will only work with C3D machines. So for your 3rd party machine you would need to use a different gcode sender. Maybe your OEM has a gcode sender or there are many free 3rd party gcode senders. C3D v6 Carbide Create outputs .nc files for gcode. Some 3rd party controllers require .tap or another extension to load your tool paths. Gcode is a simple text file and if required you can rename the file with the extension your particular machine needs to run the files.

You have to log into the community which you obviously have access to.
Also is a 3rd party site by a community user:
