Carbide Motion.... jerky movement

Hello all. New to the board and Carbide but not the CNC world. The HDM is my third machine but first shapeoko…

So here is what I am running into. I was running some tests on the HDM and the motion of the cuts are not smooth at all. And these are circle and oval vectors. Should not be a issue. When testing a small 3D dome same thing. When I ran the same tool paths in gSender it was as smooth as butter.

Carbide motion doesnt have a lot of options to change… So what am I missing?

Thanks in advance.

Bruce

Do you have the Log window open? At one time that could cause difficulties.

Does your computer meet the System Requirements? Mac OS or Windows?

How many USB devices on the computer in question?

Any pending OS updates? Try rebooting?

When you select node edit on the curved vectors are the nodes all in a smooth line or do they show up as jagged?

I did not have the log window open.

The computer exceeds the requirements, its a clean install.

USB devices plugged in are the machine and the Carbide pendant. Had the same results without it plugged in as well.

No pending updates.

The vectors are fine. it was a test with a circle, oval and dome. I am running the same extract file on another machine. The same exact file ran perfectly on the same machine in gsender right after it did not run well in Motion.

Please check in w/ the folks at support@carbide3d.com — probably they’ll want you to run sysinfo and send the output from that.

Here are videos… Same exact file. One run in gsender the other in motion.

I’m not familiar with gsender but you see how the vector is jagged? CM is cutting along each of the jags. You don’t see the jerky motion so much on the long sides but when it gets to the tighter ends of the oval it’s more visable. I’m guessing that if the vector is totally smooth you won’t have the jerking motion

The vector is not jagged. That’s the screen and screen shot. There are only 4 actual vectors on the oval. This is the same test carve I do on all my machines. Its not the vector, its something in Carbide Motion. That same exact file runs smooth on the same machine…with a different program.

I sent an email to support. I will update once I hear back.

Are you using Carbide Create with the correct post processor selected?

I am using Aspire for the file. With the correct post processor. I do not plan on using Carbide Create. Been using Aspire for years and most of my work are 3D carvings.

This reply edited by me, removing the offer to run your file on my machine. I don’t think what I proposed would be beneficial. Cheers.

Please try re-generating the G-code, but turning off the use of G2/G3 arcs.

I will get that a shot. The machine is running for the next few hours.

Of note… the same exact save file ran smoothly in gSender.

For anyone following. There seems to be an issue with the electronics. Only had it a few days but customer support has been great and a replacement electronics cabinet should be here in a few days.

To anyone following. A new electronics cabinet arrived today. And after installing it and running the test file, it ran smooth as better. So there was an issue with the electronics that was the issue.
