Carbide Motion Not Responding Properly on New Laptop

Hello Carbide 3D Community,

I’ve been encountering some frustrating issues while trying to use Carbide Motion on my new laptop. The software installs without any error messages, but when I attempt to connect and operate my Shapeoko, the system doesn’t respond as expected.

The Main Issues Include:

  1. The machine homes successfully, but any jogging or operational commands don’t seem to register.
  2. Occasionally, I get an error stating, “No configuration found for the attached machine.”
  3. The interface sometimes freezes, forcing me to restart the software to try again.

Steps I’ve Tried So Far:

  • Uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version of Carbide Motion.
  • Verified that my laptop is detecting the USB connection properly.
  • Updated all drivers and ensured my system software is up to date.
  • Followed the setup instructions from the documentation, but the same issues persist.

The laptop I’m using is a relatively new 14 inch AMD laptop and has no trouble running other similar software, so I’m unsure whether it’s a compatibility issue or something I’ve overlooked in the setup process.

I’ve searched through the forums and found a few posts describing similar problems, but none of the solutions have worked for me so far.

Has anyone else faced a similar issue? If so, were you able to resolve it, and how? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your guidance!

Did you try using a different USB cable? At least you could eliminate that component as the problem.

Please try the standard computer troubleshooting techniques:

  • check for updates
  • shut down
  • reboot
  • start up in safe mode and ensure that as few other programs are running

If desired add the optional step of:

  • create a new admin user
  • log in as that new user
  • install the program under that user
  • launch

If you still have difficulties, go to the Start Menu, type “sysinfo”, run the "System Information Tool and save your machine information as a .txt tile using your last name and first name and .txt and then send it to support@carbide3d.com
