I am trying to make a advanced Vcarve cut with my 1/8th inch endmill (tool #8) and 30 degree Vee. But when I start the program in motion, it is reading it as tool #10 which is my 1/16th endmill.
I realize the letters are too small for a 1/8th inch (it broke my 1/16th inch) but I was thinking it would bypass that and go straight to the Vee bit. I am doing an inlay so I prefer to use advanced Vcarve instead of regular VCarve cut so that there is no worries with the plug not fitting tight.
Can anyone help me with this? Herzog 3.c2d (212 KB)
Your file doesn’t include the custom tool. Can you screenshot the Edit Tool dialog?
The G-Code is showing tool 10, and tool 9
M6T10
…
M6T9
If you want that tool to be tool #8, then change the tool number in the Edit Tool dialog.
Otherwise, it’s pretty arbitrary. CM only knows about the tools in the default library.
As long as you know which tool to load, the number really doesn’t matter, other than each tool should have a unique number.
I think @AlphaHD is on to something. Below is my custom tool for the 60 degree groovee jenny down cut bit. I have a whole number 702 as my tool number. The rules for tool numbers are arbitrary in CC so try editing out the # and see if it works.
You can edit the tool number in the CC custom library or go director to

Find your custom tool library and open in a spreadsheet and edit it directly. Just save as a text file and do not allow the file to saved in a spreadsheet form because CC can only read comma delimited files.
