If you run the Load New Tool process when you open Motion the first time, you should be able to run your program without setting the zero again. The new workflow doesn’t make any assumptions about the height of the spindle (and by extension the distance to the Z-origin) until it measures an endmill at least once.
Thank you Winston, I tried this and it worked but I realise I need to do this every time I start carbide motion, not just one time. Is that how it’s meant to be?
Many thanks,
Gunter
So, I’ve found that if I don’t close Carbide Motion and only turn off the machine, when I reconnect I don’t need to do this. So it might be a bug or behavior that can be improved in a future release. But in the mean time, this isn’t really a step backwards, because Carbide Motion used to force you to probe a tool as soon as you initialized the machine. It simply gives you the flexibility to opt to measure it ASAP, or after you set a zero.
Hi All,
I had noticed this phenomenon before while working with a two-sided job and was wondering why the Z position was reset somehow. Now I noticed that in both instances that I saw it, I clicked Pause and then Job Stop button (not the red stop button on screen) . Then the Z reference is lost. Could this be a problem with CM??
