Carbide Motion version 635

I can also confirm that turning off BT on my laptop allowed me to connect.

I’ve been using the following laptop since my Shapeoko 5 Pro journey began a few months ago with no issue:

ThinkPad P1 Gen 4i
Intel Core i9-11950H @ 2.60GHz
32.0 GB RAM
Windows 11 Pro Build 22631.3374

Same, disabling BT in Windows 11 resolved the connection issue for me.

I tried turning it back on after the initial setup, and immediately started having problems (slow response, random disconnects, etc). Turning BT off and leaving it off and immediately night and day better.

Same issue. I have a Dell XPS 15 running Windows 11 Pro. I have an old Kickstarter Nomad 883.1 (SN 00024). At first I thought maybe it was my old CNC that was the problem. But I found this thread and the set up ran fine with Bluetooth turned off.

Carbide Motion 635 now runs fine with BT turned off. But if I turn BT on, I get an error message stating that the cutter has stopped responding. If I turn BT off, I’m able to connect again.

This is a bit problematic since I use a BT mouse with this laptop. In the short run I can use an old USB mouse, but I hope this gets resolved.

Thanks,
/Keith

I am using 635 with a Raspberry PI and have Bluetooth enabled and have not seen an issue.
Just tossing out a datapoint.

This must be a Windows thing. I use a MacBook, bluetooth always enabled with a bluetooth connected mouse. No issues connecting with CM635.

Same here. MacBook Air - CM635 works great.

Add to the info

No issues.

Win 10

Same here. 635 was all but unresponsive on mine until I disabled BT.

Lenovo X1 Yoga
Core I-7-6600U
16GB Ram
Windows 11 Pro 24H2 26100.1
Intel Wireless Bluetooth - USB\VID_8087&PID_0A2B&REV_0001
Intel BT driver Driver ver 22.100.1.1

so its win11 and bluetooth related, I think thats what I’m seeing

But 618 works with BT enabled.

That may point to some kind of change in the libraries within the development environment between the time the versions were compiled.
Quite the strange issue to pop out of nowhere.

Can you try 636 with Bluetooth on? Carbide Motion Beta Downloads

We’ve gone through the code and the only thing that could make any sense is we had some other code looking for other serial devices that got added between 622 and now. We removed that to see if it could be the cause.

(If it is, then it points to a problem with the QT framework we’re using, or something funky in some Windows machines in how long it takes to enumerate devices.)

Is that what this release note means?

Morning Rob.
Have installed and tried CM 636. Sorry to report it has made no difference to the very laggy performance and failure to connect to the machine when BT is enabled.
As an ex programmer, I have some appreciation as to how frustrating it is to chase these issues down. In this instance there is at leat a work around for the short term.
Regards
Peter

Is there a tag on the back of the machine with the exact Lenovo model number?

Yup, but it almost unreadable. See attached photo

You might be able to enhance image to reveal the info you require.

Model: 81VT0001UK

Maybe.

That looks right for the Lenovo Idea Pad Slim 1.

You should be able to confirm it from the BIOS Main Screen - System Summary.

You’re quite right, I have confirmed it in the bios main screen.
