Carbide guys have helped me out w/ software issues so I cant complain there, but good god, if you are going to sell a VFD Spindle - can you please include installation instructions with it? Or, at a minimum, do a video with the exact equipment you ship??
None of the cables matched the video, there was an extra adapter included that I have no idea what’s for and the instructions for enabling MIDI are wrong let alone the actual connectors, the actual box itself, and how to read ANY of the digital readouts on it. I shouldnt have to play around and google for 30 mins and literally get nothing back from the searches when I paid $700 for the thing!
To that end, I was getting Err17 and yet again, had to google that for 15 minutes w/ no luck. Even saw one guy in Mexico do some extra grounding. Anyway, the simple solution was the connector to the spindle IS NOT KEYED despite what the single online video says. On the 3rd try of spinning it 1/4 way to try other pin connections, it went away. So, obviously not keyed and hit or miss on whether you get the connector right. Luckily no electrons were harmed.
Hopefully this helps someone else suffering from this purchase. Hopefully it’s worth it mechanically after all this…
