Carving 3D Mountains

Have made quiet a few of these since I got my machine a month ago. I’ve been using fusion 360 which has a pretty much identical process(3d adaptive clear + parallel).

I have been able to get quiet a bit more detail than you model since I’m using a 1.5mm tapered ballnose endmill for the parallel pass, but the two pieces I have made at a similar size take 10+ hours for the finishing pass.

I have also never tried an angled finishing pass. I have one piece thats going through the roughing pass right now so I will try it with that one!

That’s awesome, yeah I didn’t want to wait the extra machining time for the 1.5mm ballnose endmill. Mine would have been over 10 hours also. Let me know what you think of the angled finish pass supposedly it produces the least amount of fuzz. Just curious if anyone liked the paint job? No one has commented about it, thanks!

Definitely a lot less fuzz with the 40 degree pass!! That’ll save me quiet a bit of time!
