CC Free version, Can't see imported tool database in the APP

Copied the IDC tool databases (csv) into the Tools folder. In CC, I do not see the database and only the 503 and 504 bits. I’m still using the free version, but I want to learn more on the free version before purchasing. I’m totally new and haven’t selected the CAD or the CAM, leaning to CC Pro and Genmitsu 4030 proverxl v2. New hobby in retirement. Been wood working 60 plus years as a hobby.
Thank you

The Pro and Free versions handle tooling in the same way.

Upload a screen grab showing your Tools window from Carbide Create (note the selections in the drop-down menus at the top) and a screen grab showing the contents of your tools folder (make sure that file extensions are visible) and we will try to look into this with you.

Thank you

Machine “Any” != Machine “All”

Change the drop-down to “All” for Machine.

Thank you! I guess I know which CAD S/W to choose. Great community support.

I don’t know if IDC names their .csv files in the correct order nowadays but when I saved their spreadsheet I had to convert it to a .CSV file (at that time it was not .csv),
Then I had to rename it using this convention “whateverUnameIt+ whateverUnameIt+whateverUnameIt”.
The “+” is an escape character.
Then I copied and pasted it in the tools folder.
Then you must close carbide create and reopen it for CC to recognize the change.
If you have to convert it to .csv you have to include the headers otherwise it will crash carbide create and you have to manually find the tools folder to delete the file and do it again.
I have tried to alert them of this crash scenario but they closed and erased the discussion so make sure you include the headers when converting.
By the way, I dunno about version 8 where vCarving has been improved but my version 7 of CCpro has the down side of unnecessary v-carving which can extend time. That will probably get better and better with modified versions (like version 8?)
but other than that CCpro is well worth the money and easy to learn without all mumbo jumbo and its very accurate. Thats just my opinion and I can’t wait for improvements on the v-carveing. I plan on updating mine to see the improvement.

Thanks. I’m going to learn the basic version first. My Genmitsu is coming Friday.

This is my usual plug for the Genmitsu FacePlant group, 34K+ members as of today. It’s a closed group, you have to join to see the contents or post. There are a fair number of Carbide Create users (of course this forum is the definitive answer), both Pro and the old free V6. I have a 4030V2, a good machine although of course it’s not as good as an ShapeOKO :slight_smile:
