CC Pro Build 464 Thickness

Hi all,
I’m starting to use Pro and have a few questions. My stock is 22 mm thick which is reflected in the job set up. I imported my SVG file into design and added a rectangle for the border border and inside displacement for the pocket. Then go to model to create the components.
I highlighted the outside line to create the Stock Material ( height 22 mm, name materials, add, base height 0.000).
I highlighted the inside line to create the pocket ( height 10mm, name pocket, subtract, base height 0.000).
I highlight the image (round, height 9mm, name image, subtract, base height 0.000).
It’s not clear to me what the difference between thickness in job set up and height in the shape parameter?

When I go to toolpath and select 3-D rough and select the image I noticed there is a perimeter stock to leave how does this relate to previous parameters?
Thanks John

Perimeter stock should refer to the outside of the geometry which you are cutting which is inside the stock dimensions set up in job setup.

Stock thickness is the initial dimensional thickness of your stock.

Height when 3D modeling allows one to define how much of your stock will be left — you have 3 options:

  • draw geometry and model it to define the full thickness, then subtract and add again so long as the height doesn’t exceed the thickness
  • draw and model geometry for a partial thickness and add or subtract
  • start at the bottom and only add and never subtract beneath the initial level

Sorry I don’t understand. When looking at the tutorials they suggest that you create a component the thickness of your stock then using this component as an Offset (Add or Subtract) to Create other Components. i’m not sure why this step is necessary as the thickness has been previously defined in job setup.
John

Because adding the thickness is good practice and suggested does not mean it’s the only way to accomplish things.

Since we want to afford folks the maximum flexibility of use, it is necessary for folks to make that initial definition.
