My most requested item. I sometimes layer a piece of hard maple on top or underneath to give a two-tone effect. Designed in VCarve Pro and sent to a Shapeoko 5 Pro via Carbide Motion.

Do you have a picture of what that looks like? Do you glue the two wood layers together first and then run the carve, so that the bottom of the board is of a different wood than the top “section dividers”?
Here you go @NYC_Woodworker_17, Sapele over Hard Maple. The two panels are glued into a single panel and then run through a thickness planer. The top (Sapele in this case) is machined to 0.250" and the bottom (maple) is machined to 0.500".
I am more than willing to make the files available if anyone wants them. I design in VCarve Pro but can export to whatever formats Vcarve can export to.

@CullenS, it looks that way, but it’s just the print of the worktable in my 3-D print room. lol
Karl, I for one would like to see your file. I also use VCarve Pro. It looks great. I was trying to find a way to get that custom emblem in the middle of one. You’ve solved that.
I’m sort of new to this forum so you’ll have to help me out here. The “Upload” button says that I can’t upload a VCarve (.crv) file.

I should have mentioned that the center part is a piece of very thin veneer cut on my Co2 laser and then glued to the center before I start machining the tray.

No, the center is laser (Co2) cut from a thin sheet of veneer. The cut oval is a little larger than the finished size. I then run the “Veneer Outline” toolpath and that gives me a guide for gluing the veneer. I glue the veneer to the center and then run all the toolpaths. I’ve tried many, many different iterations of getting the center looking really nice and I think this is the winning recipe.
