Children's Height Measurement Stick

I would like to create a height measurement stick for my grandson.

It will be roughly six feet long so I will need to do it in two steps on my S4 XXL.

Does anyone have a project file that I can use / modify before I create one myself?

Thanks,

Bruce

I will try to send a SVG to your inbox. I tried to post it here but nope…didn’t work.

Uploading an SVG should work.

Send the file in to support@carbide3d.com to my attention and I’ll try to determine why it won’t work.

Trying it again. And I might add…I would do it like this with two hinges.

I made a child height plaque similar to this link. I made it in 3 parts that fit together like jigsaw puzzle pieces. My base wood was a light aspen wood. I then made multiple inlay pieces including the tree trunk in dark walnut with the leaves inlaid in a lighter mahogany. I also inlaid the family name at the top in walnut.

Here is a picture of one of the middle segment files. From this I made the other multiple files for the inlay parts.

SVG uploading should work now- I’m not sure why it wasn’t in the allowed extensions until now.

SVG is a very handy format, but …
There is a security risk with SVG files containing nasty scripts or foreign objects.
If your upload process has an SVG cleaner, it would probably be better.

Google AI response to “svg security”.

SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) files are text-based XML files that can execute code. Attackers use them to hide malicious JavaScript, run phishing scams, or deliver malware because security filters often treat them as harmless images. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]

Security Risks of SVGs

  • Hidden Code: SVGs can hold <script> tags, external script links, or foreignObject elements that run code inside a web browser.

  • Phishing Scams: An SVG opened as an email attachment can display a fake login page to steal your passwords.

  • HTML Smuggling: Attackers use the file to build and drop malware directly onto a local machine.

  • Automatic Triggers: Some malicious SVGs redirect users to harmful web pages the moment the file opens. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

How to Stay Safe

  • Block Attachments: Set email gateways to quarantine or block .svg attachments from unknown sources.

  • Sanitize Uploads: If your website allows user-uploaded images, parse and clean the XML data or convert SVGs into safe raster formats like PNG.

  • Treat as Executable: Never open an unexpected SVG file sent via email or chat. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
