Chiller Coolant type Brand name

Hi Everyone first post here. I am in the process of upgrading to the 80mm spindle and I am wondering what brand name of chiller coolant you are running?

Thanks

Isaac

Prestone-- it’s what they had at the Borg. I don’t think it matters as long as it has antibacterial properties and doesn’t freeze if that’s an issue in your shop. Ethylene glycol above ~20% kills most microbes (I used it at 50%, as you would in a car. While I heat my shop a prolonged freeze is a possibility). I plan to watch the lines and check it every year or two.

I got the cheapest 50/50 mix Autozone had to offer.

I went cheap too. I live in a “Drinking community with a boating problem.” :D, so I got the pink RV/Boat/Pool winterizing anti-freeze. It’s been working great for 2 yrs & still nice & clean.

From experience. Flush out that rv antifreeze every year. I had two systems develop clogs in chiller lines with it. Never could get the low flow alarms to work right after.

I’ve been told it will coagulate if mixed with water. I run it straight and everything is staying clean so far. :crossed_fingers:
