I have had a couple of jobs where the sweepy hits the clamps and throws off the x or y and ruins the job. I have some ideas on how I can avoid this in the future but I figured I would ask here to get the benefit of the collective experience and maybe help others.
I look forward to some photos of how you are clamping your work to avoid collisions with dust attachments, especially on jobs where you are cutting close to the edge of the material that is clamped.
Thanks in advance
I use painters tape and CA glue. It’s amazing how well it holds the work. It takes a while to get used to it, but soon you will be taping down your work much faster than you can clamp it. I also use a vacuum table for stuff that I don’t need to cut out. If you don’t know how to use the tape and ca glue method just let us know and someone will explain it. Probably a lot of Youtube videos too…but it is stupid simple to secure the stock with it.
I generally use the CrushIt clamps - come in from the side and frotn pushing the project agaisnt a set of the stops. Hasn’t failed me yet - although works best on stock thicker than the clamp.
I’ve been using the Crush-It Essential Clamp Set and am impressed by its durability.
Despite a few accidental hits, it only shaved off a small portion—no damage to the endmill, no step loss, and it remains fully functional, just a bit nicked up.
Here’s a video from Carbide 3D demonstrating some of the clamping techniques I often use.
