Another beta release of carbide motion this week, now 620, and I’m reporting my feedback again regarding the RPM change popup. My machine is the Shapeoko 4 Standard equipped with the Carbide Compact Router. This bug I’m reporting is for those of us that use the Carbide 3D Compact Router as the spindle rather than VFD spindle.
CM620 is still reporting the wrong spindle speed setting which has not been addressed since CM617. The RPM change popup still does not match what the loaded program gcode is set to. I happen to like this reminder. So this time I thought I would try the community forum to report this bug.
This is the 3rd beta release that I have requested to correct this with a simple code fix and it has not been addressed by your software developers or maybe they don’t know about it. As I have explained in previous emails and received confirmations from support, when using the compact router, the spindle speed change popup message when you run your program is supposed to report the spindle rpm speed you are supposed to set the dial to. Instead, it is fixed at the incorrect spindle speed of 24000 rpm no matter what your loaded program gcode defines it to be.
I have been told in replies to my email feedback that this is a confirmed bug and has been reported to the software team, yet nothing has been done about it now since my first email reporting this bug back in July for the CM617 release.
Such a simple code fix for compact router equipped machines that used to work perfectly and now hasn’t ever since CM617. Now there has been CM releases 617, 618, and now 620 and it is still broken. Below is an example of the bug.
BTW, when using the bitrunner V2, this popup used to come up on the CM screen also when the program was done. The compact router shuts off at the completion of a program to remind you to turn off the spindle power switch. It doesn’t do that anymore either. This is a safety hazard because without this reminder popup to turn off the spindle power switch, you might forget and leave the switch in the on position. I want to see this reminder to turn off the spindle power when a program is finished running as a safety reminder.
Since CM620 is a beta version, I assume Carbide3D is expecting beta test feedback from your user base. Please fix this, since CM 620 is a beta release I am submitting my feedback again hoping CM621 will address the fix.
Can this request be sent directly to a software development person who can address it directly for CM621?
Thank You,
Joseph
