CNC weird behaviour

Why does the router bounce up and down at least a dozen times without hardly touching the wood before it does any cutting?

Is this for a V carving?

How does the cut turn out? Does it match the 3D preview? Post a photo?

Oh yes. Turns out exactly like it is supposed to. I have a video of the cnc doing this dance but it wont upload. I was just curious why it goes up and down numerous times before digging in… it seems to be a time waster.

Geometry gets turned into a polyline and the toolpath calculated from that — if you have a particularly egregious example of inefficient toolpathing, post it and we’ll see if we can look into it with you.

If you zoom in on a corner in a V-carve path, you can see the long bi-tangent cut up to the corner, 2 ‘pick’ moves that cut upward on an angle to match the tool diameter with the corner, and then a bunch very small ‘pick’ moves that are created by varying radii in the curve.
It looks like a sewing machine…

It would be super cool to have check boxes to turn off these ‘corner picks’.
In many cases, like engraving text with rounded ends they are not necessary.

Okay. So sounds like normal behaviour. I agree, it would be cool to be able to disable that. Just looks like a bunch of air kisses.
