I had to upgrade to the new VFD spindle. I would like another 1/4 collet. I know I can buy one from carbide for $25.00 for 1, but wondering if anyone know where another place is that is a bit cheaper.
If so do you know the part number.
Thanks
Rod

Make sure to get the right one for your spindle. The newer 65 mm spindle uses an ER16 collet and the older one uses an ER11 (which is what appears on the carbide3d shop page)

A reputable place a lot of machinists frequent is Maritool: Tool Holders, Collets and Machine Accessories ER Collets - MariTool
Bunch of sizes to choose from if you ever need them.
You could absolutely get one on ebay/amazon/etc for cheaper than that still, but the quality might be very hit-or-miss.
What Winston said, don’t buy the cheap ones. I ordered the 5/16” and 8mm for my original (ER11) 65mm spindle from C3D from Maritool. Excellent runout #’s.
I’ve had good results from the Accusize collets on Amazon. But the really cheap ones can have a lot more run-out, cause bad finish, and vibrate like crazy.
