Not sure if this is a bug or a feature request.
If a layer color is Black, then open vectors are colored magenta.
If a layer color is anything else, then open vectors are just in the layer color.

If you need to know what elements are open/unclosed there are 3 ways to do this:
- move them to the DEFAULT layer where they will show as magenta
- select them using Edit | Select Open Vectors
- change layer colour(s) to black:
