Support is closed for the day, so I thought maybe I could get a quicker answer from the forum. I am in the process of putting my CNC together. I am having issues with wiring my Shapeoko 5 pro. The instructions and the installation video shows the wires already in the wire keepers and says the wire keepers are labeled. My wire keepers came loose in a bag (neither are labeled), with no screws in the bag to attach the wire keepers to the frame, Since the wires are not in the wire keepers, I am unsure which wires go to which side. I have different wires labeled S5-44-WB-Y1L, S5-44-WB-Y2L, S5-44-WB-Y2M, and S5-44-WB-FP. I have no idea which wire goes to which stepper motor and do not want to guess and screw something up. None of the wires leaving the stepper motors are labeled. Thanks to anyone that can help.
For any given area where wires need to be connected things should be arranged so that there are only two connectors of a given type and number of wires.
Most, if not all of the connections are described in the instructions — just cross them off as you make them and it should be obvious which ones remain.
Just went through this last weekend, and I used zip ties to hold the wires in the wirekeepers. It should be pretty simple as the one on the left there are only two sets of wires, and then those same go through it on the right side as well along with the wire that leads up to the front of the machine along the bottom of the right side.
And like Will said, they made it pretty much foolproof when it comes to the connectors and wiring. You’ll see as you go that there is basically only one way to hook stuff up.
I started putting my machine together last weekend and come across a few questions as well. I emailed support and received responses within a few hours even though they were closed for the weekend. If you still have questions, I would email them and even include a picture if you can related to your question. For me, if I had read through the instructions start to finish prior to starting to put the machine together, some of my questions would have been answered. The instructions aren’t bad, but there’s definitely room for improvement. Good luck and hope you get it figured out.
Might also want to watch the YouTube video they have for putting it together. Between it and the directions online you should be able to get it figured out. And like Dave says, their support is really good at answering questions.
