Connecting aftermarket touch probe while keeping Bitsetter

I’ve been wanting to move to CNCjs and try using a digital touch probe to make milling multi op parts easier, and found this post on connecting an aftermarket probe to the existing Bitsetter slot: Edge finder probe - #20 by ChrisPro

Im a almost a complete noob when it comes to the electronics and software side of things, so forgive me if I’m missing the obvious.

In order to keep the Bitsetter, probe, do I just solder on the appropriate wires to a new connector and plug it in to the Bitsetter slot? How do I go about configuring both the Bitsetter and the probe in CNCjs?

Also do I need to understand JavaScript to do basic probing? I’m in process of learning programming but it’ll be a while until I can actually understand and write probing macros myself. For now I’m just probably just going to copy the already established ones and see what I can do to adapt them, if you guys have any useful resources to learn they’ll be much appreciated.

There is a “Bitzero” plug on the board as well. Pretty sure they share the same circuit but you should not have to solder the connections together.

Update, wired the probe to the bit zero connection and it works well with probing corners and finding the center of a circle.
I’m not exactly sure on how to measure the offset of the probe and probe Z with it. I know I’ll want to use the electronic probe to establish an offset on a fixed position on my machine, which I have, but how do I set up the macros to do that? Do I just make a new tool change macro with coordinates for the fixed position or is there more to it?
Thanks
