Connecting open vectors - did not mean to delete

I have two points that I cannot get to close. Im trying to connect them to the inner outline so that I can create a pocket around the deer head. Can I not connect them? Do I need to make a duplicate inner outline? Thanks for your help

Make a copy of both vectors & place off to the side. Now trim each to fit, join them & move the copied curve back into position…

You probably want to make three separate regions here:

This becomes more obvious if you import the pixel image for reference:

adjusting it to line up:

Done

Select the geometry:

and copy-paste it in place:

Draw in a line to use for defining the division between red and blue:

Done

and drag it into registration:

then shift it up using the up arrow keyboard nudge shortcut:

Select the geometry for one side and copy-paste it into registration:

Then use Trim Vectors to remove all but one side:

If need be, zoom in:

until one arrives at:

OK

Join Vectors to close:

Yes

Repeat for the other regions.

This largely depends on how you plan to cut it. If epoxy pouring by color then each color needs to be it’s own separate closed region. And regions can overlap if you’re using V-carve. For example, I would pour the Yellow first, offsetting the blue-red boundary and deer to allow some yellow into the edge of those areas. Then the black, blue & red separately.

The top image shows 2 regions being v-carved to the same line. If you surface a bit below the original top surface, now you have a thin wood line between the colors. If you overlap them, the 2nd color cuts into the first & leaves a sharp crisp line.

Thanks, I see where I was missing the step and why I could not close the vectors where I was trying to. I used the pixel to trace a lot like you demonstrated in the in another thread and it helped a lot. Thanks for walking through this.

Chris

I saved this because I’m not doing epoxy at this moment, the skill set is not there yet, but I want to in the future.
